The Sparrow
In my radio show on episode 249, I spoke about the moving Greek short film titled “The Sparrow” (often known as Sfika). The video depicts an elderly father repeatedly asking his adult son “What is that?” as a sparrow lands nearby. While the son initially answers with annoyance and eventually loses his temper, the father remains calm, later sharing a diary entry from when the son was a toddler. In that entry, the father recalls answering the same question from his son twenty-one times with nothing but patience and love.
This video serves as a powerful reminder that our parents should never be taken for granted, be respected with plenty of patience. This narration was also an intro to the song Vienna by Billy Joel
Watkins
I had the privilege to interview Taylor Watkins on East to West Program on April 15.
Great Music and spectacular musician.
He is a rising singer-songwriter from North Carolina who blends the storytelling traditions of folk with a modern indie-pop sensibility. Rooted in the rich musical landscape of the South, his work often explores themes of personal growth and emotional resilience through stripped-back acoustic arrangements. Enjoy the entire East to West Program (E255) or listen to the complete interview right here.
